Expert Care for Bladder and Bowel Health
Overview
Our team comprises of Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurses, Bladder and Bowel Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers. We provide assessment, treatment planning, investigations and support for those experiencing bladder and bowel issues. This can include, but is not limited to:
- Pelvic floor disorders.
- Guidance and management for voiding dysfunction, including support with intermittent self-catheterisation.
- Assessment and advice for bowel issues, such as constipation, loose stool and faecal leakage
- Continence advice and management.
- Educational support for patients, carers and professionals.
Please note, we do not provide treatment for individuals with indwelling urinary catheters.
Appointments
For community patients, we aim to offer appointments within 2-4 weeks. Clinic appointments are generally available within 10 weeks of referral.
Service Delivery
Clinics are run from Monday to Friday at a variety of locations, including:
- Braintree
- Chelmsford
- Halstead
- Maldon
Referral Process
Referrals can be made by healthcare professionals (GPs, practice nurses, hospitals, social services, district nurses, health visitors, midwives, care agencies, or residential homes), as well as directly from the public. All referrals are reviewed, with patients seen either at home or in a clinic, based on their needs. Initial assessment appointments may be by telephone or video conference.

If you are registered with SystmOnline you will be able to view your own Electronic Medical Record (EMR), manage your appointments, request repeat medication, update contact details and message your healthcare service. There is also a SystmOnline app available for Apple and Android devices.
