The Assessment & Rehabilitation Service at Provide Health is designed to offer specialised, convenient day-treatment options for patients requiring blood transfusions, intravenous medications, and expert anticoagulation management.

Who Can Access This Service?

Eligibility Criteria

  • Adults aged 18 and over.
  • Registered with a General Practitioner (GP) in the Mid Essex NHS area.

Exclusions

  • Patients unstable on Warfarin.
  • Acutely ill patients.

Our Services

Blood Transfusions and IV Infusions:

  • We provide a day-treatment setting for those requiring blood transfusions and intravenous medications.
  • Blood transfusions typically involve two or three units over one or two days, with a goal of offering same-week transfusions.
  • IV infusions are available for treatments such as a three or five-day course of steroids, with treatments usually commencing within two weeks of referral.
  • IV antibiotics are administered as needed on a daily basis.

Anticoagulant Clinic:

  • Our skilled nurses manage a comprehensive one-stop anticoagulant clinic at St Peter’s Hospital.
  • Utilising quick finger-prick blood tests, we provide immediate results and dosage adjustments during your visit.
  • Typical appointments last about ten minutes, with initial consultations with the clinical lead taking approximately 30 minutes.
  • We strive to schedule your appointment within a week of referral.

St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon.

Operating Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Clinics Schedule

Open Days:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Operating Hours:
8:40am – 3:30pm.

Note: Closed on Thursdays.

Referral Process

Referrals can be made by any healthcare professional, including your GP or a hospital specialist.

This service can be accessed through our Care Co-ordination Centre

If you are registered with SystmOnline you will be able to view your own Electronic Medical Record (EMR), manage your appointments, request repeat medication, update contact details and message your healthcare service. There is also a SystmOnline app available for Apple and Android devices.
