Provide Community has confirmed that its inpatient rehabilitation wards at Halstead Community Hospital and Bayman Ward at Brentwood Community Hospital have maintained their ‘Good’ ratings following a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The inspection, carried out in October 2025, was routine and took place because it had been five years since the last visit. It focused specifically on Halstead Ward, which provides intermediate care and rehabilitation, and Bayman Ward, which specialises in stroke rehabilitation.

The CQC found that both wards are performing well and meeting expectations, with all five key areas, safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, rated Good. Provide Community continues to hold an Outstanding overall rating.

Inspectors highlighted positive feedback from patients and families, who described staff as kind, respectful and supportive. Patients reported feeling safe, involved in decisions about their care, and well supported in their recovery and rehabilitation.

The report also recognised strong multidisciplinary working, effective leadership, and a positive learning culture. Where opportunities for further improvement were identified, these have been welcomed and addressed as part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality care.

Lucy Wightman, CEO Provide Health and Group Chief Nurse, said: “We are really pleased that Halstead and Bayman Wards have maintained their Good ratings following a routine inspection, and that Provide Community continues to be rated Outstanding overall.

“This outcome reflects the dedication, compassion and professionalism of our teams, and the positive experiences shared by patients and families. We are committed to learning and improving wherever we can, so that we continue to provide care we would be proud for our own loved ones to receive.”

Provide Community delivers a wide range of community-based health and care services across Essex and beyond, supporting people to stay well, recover and live independently.
