Overview
Our Dermatology Service offers comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of various skin conditions.
Eligibility and Exclusions
Eligibility: Adults registered with a GP in the NHS Mid Essex area.
Exclusions: We do not treat conditions such as malignant melanoma, naevi suggestive of melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, hydradenitis suppurativa, ganglion/myxoid cysts, breast lesions indicative of cancer, or patients requiring roaccutane.
Service Details
We manage both acute and chronic dermatological conditions, including:
- Acne
- Bacterial and fungal infections
- Eczema
- Hair and nail disorders
- Psoriasis
- Rosacea
Procedures Offered:
- Cryotherapy
- Skin scrapes
Referrals:
- For minor surgery, patients are referred as outpatients to our Braintree Community
- Hospital Minor Operations Unit or other locations.
- Educational advice on self-management.
Specialist advice and treatment at an acute hospital, if required.
Our service is delivered by GPs with a Special Interest in Dermatology.
Service Delivery
Clinics are currently held on:
- Monday and Thursday at St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at Braintree Community Hospital, Braintree
Referral Process
Referrals must be made by a healthcare professional, such as a GP or consultant. We aim to see patients within 18 weeks of referral.
