The first cohort of a partner initiative between Provide Community and the Prince’s Trust have graduated after a six-week training programme at Braintree Community Hospital.
The ‘Get Into Healthcare’ programme aims to give young people who are not in full-time employment or education an opportunity to gain free life training, skills and practical work experience that may open a future career path.
The Prince’s Trust training included CV writing, interview skills and confidence building. Provide Community delivered practical skills training. This included Basic Life Support and Moving and Handling people alongside mandatory training in Information Governance and Safeguarding. Every applicant completed several weeks of work experience in their chosen service.
Lorraine Pendleton, Volunteer Manager, Learning and Development at Provide Community said: “We are delighted with the outcomes from our first programme. The aim is to show young people the breadth of opportunities available working in a health and social care organisation, and we have three outstanding trainees who we hope will continue working with us. We hope this will really be a springboard for their future careers.
“I would like to thank all the Provide Community colleagues who supported the trainees with their time and mentoring.”
Provide Community ‘Get Into Healthcare’ outcomes include:
Trainee one: Completed a placement in Fern Lodge and has successfully applied for a permanent job there.

She has signed-up to the Get Into Provide work programme where she will access further development of her administrative skills including Excel and Outlook.
